How to bring the magic of winter into your child's room
Imagine snowflakes gently falling outside – and you're holding your very own little winter wonderland in your hands. With this sustainable snow globe, you can bring the magic of winter into your room – without plastic, but with pure nature.
The best part: You'll create a DIY adventure together that's just as much fun for kids as it is for adults. And it's all done simply with things you already have at home.

This is required:
- An empty jam or preserving jar
- Small toy figure(s)
- Superglue or hot glue gun
- Shells from one or two eggs and/or biodegradable glitter
- (Distilled) water
- Dishwashing liquid
Step-by-step instructions:
- Attach the figure to the lid: To begin making the snow globe, you'll need a clean jar, the lid, the figurine(s), and superglue or a hot glue gun. Glue the figurine to the center of the jam jar lid, as close as possible. It's best to have your parents do this. Press it firmly for about a minute to make sure it stays in place.
- Prepare the “snow” filling: For the next step, you'll need eggshells and a spoon. The crushed eggshells will later serve as the "snow" in your homemade snow globe. Remove the shell membrane from the eggs and crush the shell pieces with the spoon until they are very small. You can also use biodegradable glitter. Eggshells are a more sustainable and cheaper option, but the glitter floats better.
- Fill the snow globe: Now transform the jam jar into a snow globe. Fill the jar with water. Distilled water is best to prevent limescale buildup. Be careful not to fill the jar to the brim, so there's still enough room for the figure. Add the crushed eggshells or organic glitter (or both) and a drop of dish soap. The dish soap prevents the eggshells from clumping.
- Assemble the snow globe: In the final step, close the filled jar with the lid, which has the figure attached. Screw the lid tightly onto the jar. Turn the finished snow globe upside down and let the "snow" dance inside the globe.
Your sustainable snow globe is now ready to enchant your winter. Place it on the windowsill, in the children's room, or give it to Grandma and Grandpa for Christmas.
