How to turn old paper into a small work of art
Making a sheet of paper yourself? It's easy. With just a few materials, some water, and a little patience, you can create something completely new out of old paper. Through papermaking, children can playfully experience how a new sheet is born from recycled paper. At the end, you can decorate it with flowers, paints, glitter, or natural materials. This makes every sheet a truly unique piece.
What you need:
- Deckle frame (papermaking mold)
- Homemade paper pulp from recycled paper
- Water and a bucket or tub
- Eco-friendly glitter
- Watercolor paint
- Small flowers, leaves, or other natural materials
- A cloth and a small towel
How it works:
Fill a bucket or tub with water and mix the paper fibers thoroughly. Slowly dip the deckle frame into the water with the paper pulp and then carefully lift it back out.
Place the frame onto a cloth and carefully press out the excess water using a small towel. Afterward, you can remove the frame and let the paper dry in the sun. With a little patience, it will become your first homemade sheet of paper. If you like, you can decorate it beforehand with flowers, leaves, watercolor paint, or a bit of eco-friendly glitter to turn every sheet into a very personal work of art.
